STUNNING VISUALS IN VERSE

Summer rains divide a languid sky of darkened pallor, winds prevailing

Southerly gasps exhaling downpours, mournful sighs, oppressed relieving

Lakehead waters, cleansing torrents, cloudbursts end as portals open

Seemingly from nowhere appears a ray of sunshine, its brilliant channel of energy filtering down from the heavens above. A heavy mist looms in the air and would soon reveal a mystical arch climbing until it reached the portal, a heavenly gateway to the ultimate promise.

Colors of depth and pastel blend in balance and harmony, a bridge of balance and celestial rising. I sit by the window, gazing in wonder at this spectral rainbow, a magical being. Is it alive in a metaphysical sense or can we reach out and touch it, consumed by its radiance? The passing down of myth and culture span centuries of speculation for this supernatural beauty of hope and connection.

We long to believe, to receive the uplifting spirit of whatever lies beyond the far end of the rainbow. Is this mystical journey a transformation, a pathway of passage as spiritual rising? We are plagued by profound mysteries, the joys, and treasures, the painful cycle of loss and mourning. Is there purpose in this journey and if so what on earth and in Heaven could it possibly be?

A lifetime passes and still, we wait for our presence, the pinnacle ready

Inspirited voice and hymnal prayer, ascent on this mystical journey

Our eminence honored, ultimate glory and passage ceding

In this, a continuing series, I am honored and excited to share a collaborative undertaking with gifted Atlanta, Georgia photographer Carolyn C. Meltzer titled ‘Stunning Visuals In Verse’ pairing my own original written verse through the inspiration of Carolyn’s striking photographic images. One of the most fundamental means to enhance poetry’s reading experience is the pairing of stunning photographic images in a union of compelling and inspired perceptions that only the individual reader can fully embrace.

Discover Carolyn’s extraordinary gift for capturing breathtaking visuals of life and the remarkable beauty of our natural surroundings. I truly felt compelled to present her breathtaking images alongside my poetic verse in a unified representation of creative arts endeavor embracing the extraordinary elements of nature that touch our heart, mind, and soul.

To my readers I implore that you visit the website of Carolyn C. Meltzer, linked beneath the accompanying photo or by clicking the image itself, to explore and experience the beauty and wonderment of her subjects through an accomplished camera lens. Share in the emotions and spirit of creative and artistic collaboration through visuals in verse.

Care for and protect our natural environment…our very existence depends on it.

  1. Hiya Don, Only just back from a short trip to Berlin… I do admire the intensity and depth of presence you summon in some of your short pieces especially… A good form for you, I think.

    1. Thank you, Scott. I have found writing shorts an increasingly satisfying challenge unto themselves. Short is not necessarily better and I do not write under the pretext of any structural rules, least not the length of a piece. What I love is the challenge in saying less with more and in turn the reader experience likewise. That often translates into reader responses and how they relate so strongly with not so many words. The language of poetry is a constant fascination, as you very well know. Its architecture aside, poetic expression continues to sustain its own life and will surely always afford me the creative and response satisfaction. Warmest regards as always Scott.
