My mind forever wanders to that shoreline by the sea

where I laze in contemplation, warmth and summer breeze

gulls observe in flights of carefree banter in their loft

as waves would replicate their drifting

in and out again

coverlets of warmth and comfort

veils of luster glistening

o’er pebbles bathed, in smoothness aged

awash as blankets, tumble tide

veneer gentility of stone

and, alas, in charmed refine

seduction of the sea

~

Symmetry of random boldness purifies in tapestry

of countless shapes and shades of skin

a seeming smoothness romancing

in sensuality of days

an effervescence touches me

patina cleanse in soft veneer

a barefoot polish tingling

salts of ocean’s softened palate

drift in aimless passion for

inhaling finish, ecstasies

on stones of ages,

sands of time

In this, a continuing series, I am honored and excited to share a collaborative undertaking with gifted Atlanta, Georgia photographer Carolyn C. Meltzer titled ‘Stunning Visuals In Verse’ pairing my own original written verse through the inspiration of Carolyn’s striking photographic images. One of the most fundamental means to enhance poetry’s reader experience is the pairing of stunning photographic images in a union of compelling and inspired perceptions that only the individual reader can fully embrace.

Discover Carolyn’s extraordinary gift for capturing breathtaking visuals of life and the remarkable beauty of our natural surroundings. I truly felt compelled to present her breathtaking images alongside my poetic verse in a unified representation of creative arts endeavor embracing the extraordinary elements of nature that touch our heart, mind, and soul.

To my readers I implore that you visit the website of Carolyn C. Meltzer, linked beneath the accompanying photo or by clicking the image itself, to explore and experience the beauty and wonderment of her subjects through an accomplished camera lens. Share in the emotions and spirit of creative and artistic collaboration through visuals in verse.

Care for and protect our natural environment…our very existence depends on it.

    1. Dearest Audrey, whose poetic verse and spoken word have touched my heart and soul for so many years now; thank you so much for this dear heart. Our mutual love for the written word, the creative essence that flows withing us, and the intangible yet so richly rewarding experience of self-expression fuels our life and every aspect in and of it. I am truly moved and honored by your words here Audrey Michelle. Be well, happy and life enriched through your won written word always my dear friend. Hugs

  1. Diamonds are never refined until they come under tremendous pressure. Pebbles are smoothed by water, following a path of least resistance. Somewhere in between these two processes is you, Don; implying and applying just the right amount of pressure to leave a lasting imprint for the ages.

    1. Myke, my wonderful friend! What a powerful expression this is and I am deeply touched by this truly profound articulation which sums of so much of what my writing has been all about for sixteen years now. This writing journey has been a remarkable life experience of exploration and discovery, not only for me as a writer, a poet but even more importantly for the reader. I strive to achieve what you have described in every creative work and thus create a distinctive experience for the reader from which they will collect the voice and spirit of each piece in their own deeply personal and meaningful way. Thank you, Myke. This beloved journey of living, of writing, continues.

    1. Paul, my friend, my exceptional poet friend, gifted and learned, beautifully articulate in your own written verse, your two chosen words in response to Gentility mean so much. One of the most critically profound takeaways that I have experienced through this collaborative pairings series ‘Stunning Visuals in Verse’ with my dear and hugely gifted friend and Atlanta photographer Carolyn C. Meltzer, has been a powerful sense of inspired life force through every single photograph that she shares with me from her vast collection regardless the visual’s subject matter, its presentation medium or her interpretation of the image vs my own.

I have always felt a very strong, responsive connection and engagement of Carolyn’s photographic gems and the words simply flow. I have treasured this collaboration for several years now, as has Carolyn. My heartfelt thanks to you Paul.

  2. Much comfort and tenderness n this beautiful piece Don.. Thank you and admire your current furious output which bodes well, my friend – like a dove released…

    1. Dear friend, Scott, whose own written verse bathes my soul and restores my faith in humanity and life itself, through countless of your own writings in the essence of life. In recent weeks we have shared much of our personal circumstances and your support has been treasured, to say the least. Life and all that life entails, good, bad or otherwise, enriches my writing process through collective engagement and the most profound sense of reconnection. Yet another fellow poet who, among a select few, have had a tremendous impact on my life, each in your own significant and distinct way. Gentility brings back the clarity, the vision, the pleasures that life can and does bring despite all external matters that cloud out thoughts in these troubled days.

Words cannot express my heartfelt love and friendship. Be blessed always, Scott.
