Still Waters

Still Waters’ Play

photo by Don MacIver 2012, Nanaimo, BC

Breathless, a sullied sky would linger

Upon mid-day’s passage in waiting

Faint tree lines rise as feathered edges

Trailing leafage to broken arrow

Cove waters mirror in charcoal gray

A skyline draped in silent refrain

Seemingly distant children’s chatter

Benign comfort to my lonesomeness

Moistened sands gather on weathered souls

That have walked endless miles engaging

Stilled waters’ images whispering

Circumstance in humanity’s way

My footsteps trailing as echoed past

In the wake of forenoon’s pilgrimage
