Automne Mist

Limbs, naked, have wept their acceptance

Of the bitterness of autumn’s morn

Lifeless appendage bid docile leave

To a summer’s reluctant passing

The air with a hint of pumpkin spice

In the chill of quiet contentment

An elliptic mist of afterlife

Lay’s heavy o’er leaves’ fallen settle

The coldness of winter’s beckon brings

A darkness to the colour of light

Autumnal equinox would favour

Crimson pin oak and sugar maple

Bleakness renders a melancholy

Listless stride upon bed of decay

Echoes the silence of automne winds

In the still of warm season’s leaving
