Upon Your Lips Bordeaux

…lyrical verse

On a terrace high upon a hill

At a table set for two

We lounged away the summer hours

Seemed for seconds time stood still

Though our paths would cross so long ago

We were truly meant to be

As though it was but yesterday

In our hearts we’d truly know

If a thousand clouds passed in the sky

And the sun refused to shine

Two lonely hearts would reunite

You and I would share the why

As I look into your eyes should I

Fear the memories of our past

The clouds that hung as lonely hearts

And the shadows meant goodbye

Would your gaze as distant waters ply

The shores of our discontent

The feelings that we long to share

Buried deep within our soul

There is commonality that binds

What we have is heart’s desire

The love that is our cornerstone

And the answers we will find

On a terrace high upon a hill

At a table set for two

We lounged away the summer hours

Seemed for seconds time stood still

And upon your lips a gentle kiss

Fragrant hint of fine Bordeaux

The wind’s caress upon your hair

Precious moments that I’ve missed

Take my hand and walk with me a while

On the shores past vineyard’s reach

Where the sun would shine eternal

As the radiance of your smile

Would you promise me a thousand years

Amid the sunshine and the rain

The cornerstones of our true love

Sharing laughter through the tears

On a terrace high upon a hill

At a table set for two

We lounged away the summer hours

Seemed for seconds time stood still

  1. Speaks of such longing, Don – beautiful and moving poetry, and I particularly love these lines –

    “Two lonely hearts would reunite

You and I would share the why”
