Night Winds

photo c/o Photobucket.com  Tofino, BC, Canada

Raindrops surrender clouds’ passage

A brilliant dusk shone upon seas

Settled in the yield of storm’s way

Island gods whispered, night winds prayed

One as the other, contentment

For the tempest quelled of anger

Lean to would I in the presence

Of oceans and timber and sand

The salt of the breeze so fragrant

An inkling of cedar combined

The fizzle of wavelets’ retreat

As carbonic effervescence

Drawn back to the seas, fall silent

In the undertow of retreat

A lone gull drifts in the night wind

Its trailing shrill as though laughter

Shores lay in quiet abeyance

Uninhabited save myself

In the calmness of reflection

Gentle stroke of wind through my hair
