Beyond The Lens

Footprints lay heavy, snow drift impressions

Latent iterations mark destiny

The willows in their languid disregard

Lean awkward in witness to my passage

By water’s edge, startled, a Blue Heron

Taking flight in defensive abandon

Silent conveyance to opposing shore

Its refuge amid felled Birch’s awning

A sole water droplet upon the lens

Detracts, vexing, from nature’s perfection

A lull of seconds between shutters’ close

The veil of exposure procures likeness

Night’s dark approaches as day falls away

The woods eerily silent, chilled the air

Redolence of moss and cedar perfume

Drifting resplendent, the consummate scene
